We are a transdisciplinary design collective based in Cape Town, and we have been recognised with numerous architectural awards for our innovative approach to modular design.
Our passion lies in achieving net zero carbon design, and we strive to achieve this goal by utilising regenerative design principles. We are dedicated to creating sustainable solutions that minimise environmental impact and contribute to our planet's regeneration.

OUR SITE
Team Mahali was founded in 2019 after participating in Solar Decathlon Africa, an international design-build competition that challenges university students to integrate renewable energy and architecture. In 2018 and 2019, we presented a socially and environmentally considerate design, awarded second place in the architecture and design contest. Another design-build competition was won by us in 2020. Our goal now is to continue working towards addressing social and environmental justice issues through the dream of Mahali.

Design and construct affordable, net-zero energy buildings using green building principles, local materials, and solar technologies.
Our group of architects is renowned for pushing the boundaries of regenerative design, focusing on net-zero carbon and sustainable buildings. We use innovative construction materials such as recycled shipping containers, light steel frame solutions, cross-laminated timber, and hempcrete to create modular solutions for residential, corporate, industrial, and community development projects. Most of our projects are modular residential solutions, and we're proud to have successfully installed many of these projects in South Africa since our very first successful project in Morocco.
We also focus on social impact projects supporting rural schools with containerised modular solutions. These projects are built in Cape Town and shipped to locations all over South Africa. We have built computer classrooms and field kitchens in the past, and we are currently working on Science labs, Clinics, and Internet Cafe projects.
